The GID team is made up of a number of individuals from all walks of life. Two professional paid drivers, a few professional navigators, a couple of ex-works mechanics and numerous professional models and lap-dancers - you won't find any of these here. Instead, we make do with this little lot :-
![]() | Trevor Allen Our assistant mechanic, Trev, helps us through the day with his spannering skills (developed thanks to many years of fiddling with a kit car). Coupled with his dry wit and love of Vodka Orange, there is never a dull moment when Trev is around (although naturally alcohol and servicing are never mixed). When he's not underneath the bonnet, he is a management consultant for some banking firm in London, and no-one in the group really knows what that means or involves. Insiders tell us it means sitting on a train every day drinking Stella and talking about Liverpool FC. Sounds good! |
![]() | Dan Howell Our driver and team numpty, Dan attempts to steer the 16v Pug around stages without hitting any large objects or breaking the car, but his track record is hardly perfect in this regard. When he's not thrashing the tits off it, he's mending it. Or faffing around with computers for some company called HP. Or filling his face with Nandos or his favourite local delicacy up there in Birmingham - curry. |
![]() | Chris Larr Driving instructor and ex-vehicle technician Chris Larr is our chief mechanic. He fiddles with those hot oily bits under the bonnet of the rally car, and invariably spends his time rubbing his chin and letting out long oooo's and aaaah's before trying to his us with a bill for £800 labour - that is until we remind him he doesn't work for Rover any more. When not fiddling with cars or teaching numpties in Milton Keynes how to drive, he is typically found on the water doing some sailing. Either that, or eating pizza. Or both. |
![]() | Lindsay Morgan When not overseeing a building project, Lindsay removes her brain and all notions of self-preservation and sits in the passenger seat with her husband, Mike, who then proceeds to catapult the two of them (plus one Peugeot 205) around a rally stage, aiming for as many piles of tyres as he can. Naturally she spends most of her time telling him where to go, when to be there and what the middle pedal is for. Outside of the rally car, she drinks wine and razzes around in her beloved transit van, Julian. Not at the same time, of course, occifer. |
![]() | Mike Morgan Mike makes up the other half of "Team Morgan". His primary skill - aiming cars at objects - is employed to great effect whenever possible. This behavioral trait probably originates from his younger days of racing Land Rovers in Comp Safari. Surprisingly, for someone who works for an engine re-manufacturer, he hasn't killed his engine (dare I say 'yet'). While it's usually the co-driver barfing, it has been known for Mike "2 pints" Morgan to empty his stomach leaving the service area. Give him a wide berth - both on and off stage. When he's not rallying, he's working on houses - either his own, or some student property in Cardiff whose drains are blocked again. |
![]() | Dave Parry Dave is the GID success story; the American dream. He started off as lowly sponge boy, wiping the windows and clearing the snot off the driver's intercom. But then he started wrestling with spanners and spare wheels, and now several years on Dave is navigator for both drivers in times of emergency (or when regular navvies are pregnant/on holiday). Dave has spent an eternity with cars, including competing in Comp Safari with Mike from an early age. |
![]() | Dan Roach-Rooke When there's beer to be swilled, our resident Bud-loving Land Rover fanatic is always ready to step up to the mark and get the party going. Once, he failed to recognise when to stop it, with interesting results the following day on-stage. The Peugeot now sports holes drilled in the passenger footwell, and for good reason. Big Dan (as he's affectionately known) and Little Dan make up the crew of the 16-valver, where "Big" holds the leash on the sometimes over-enthusiastic brummie. When he's not in the rally car, he can often be seen on the stages in his Discovery, as radio or recovery. When the weekday starts, Dan spends the majority of it on the M1 between home and work - some place where he practices dark magic around things called "computer systems". Hey, at least no-one in the team has to worry about broken PCs! |
